The call makes available over €1.9 million to fund the projects of researchers who have a doctoral degree or at least four years’ full-time research experience in any scientific domain. Social Sciences and Humanities, Environmental and Geosciences, Life Sciences, and Information Science and Engineering are the most popular scientific areas.
Projects will be selected for funding with the support of about 600 external independent evaluators (expected number). Evaluations start in November. CIVIS3i recruiting universities, Aix Marseille University, Université libre de Bruxelles, Sapienza Universitat di Roma and Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, will recruit all 16 successful applicants during 2022.
During the first call, 11 Q&A events dedicated to applicants’ questions received over 200 participants from around the world. These live sessions were held every two weeks during the month and a half before the call deadline and were scheduled to allow applicants from different time zones to attend. The total face-to-face time with the participants was 22h. Overall, the Q&A sessions as well as the assistance provided to applicants were rated Excellent in a satisfaction survey sent to all applicants who submitted CIVIS3i proposals.
