About the CIVIS3i Alliance Programme

CIVIS3i, The CIVIS Alliance Programme for International, Interdisciplinary, Intersectoral Research and Training for Experienced Researchers, is an Alliance program selected under the MSCA-H2020 COFUND for postdoctoral researchers, open to experienced researchers from all around the world, developed in the context of the European University CIVIS. Aix-Marseille University (France) coordinates the program, which gathers four recruiting universities belonging to the European University CIVIS, the five other CIVIS universities that offer co-advisors, training and secondments and 24 non-academic partners  who offer training and secondments.

The four recruiting universities are Aix-Marseille University (AMU, France), Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB, Belgium), Sapienza Universitá di Roma (SUR, Italy), Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM, Spain). The associated partners are the 6 CIVIS universities: National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, University of Bucharest, Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen, Stockholm University, University of Glasgow, Paris Lodron University of Salzburg; and the 24 non-academic partners.

The CIVIS3i program is rooted in the concept of a cross-border environment for research that offers a wide range of possibilities in terms of international, interdisciplinary and intersectoral collaboration. CIVIS3i offers a comprehensive training and networking program, integrating interdisciplinarity and intersectorality in research, as well as skills to work on an international environment. CIVIS3i is devoted to increase the career perspectives of fellows, by offering talented researchers an attractive environment for research and by training a future generation of employable, mobile, first-class researchers.

CIVIS3i is based on an efficient triple “i” dimension and a strong training philosophy that will give the postdoctoral fellows the opportunity to boost their future career inside or outside academia

International mobility

Internationalisation is at the core of CIVIS3i research and teaching activities. The Alliance programme highly encourages international collaboration through bilateral agreements, institutional cooperation and international programs such as the Erasmus Mundus programme. CIVIS3i fellows will benefit from the network of their advisors and vice versa, thus opening up new international collaboration opportunities that will outlast the duration of the fellowships.

Interdisciplinarity

Interdisciplinarity is an intrinsic part of CIVIS3i's research and training philosophy.

CIVIS3i is a comprehensive university alliance covering all major research fields and it encourages close interactions between researchers of different fields. The CIVIS3i Alliance has several Interdisciplinary Institutes with a view to promoting innovative interdisciplinary projects that are expected to open up new fields of investigation.

Inter-sectoral exposure

Intersectorality is ensured via the well-established collaboration and interaction between the CIVIS3i Alliance's research units, industry and societal stakeholders in all fields of research. The Alliance's universities are actively involved in regional development. (see list of partners here).
