Dr. Susanne Abou Ghaida will be giving a talk entitled "At the crossroads of politics and Arab literature for young people: the series al-Shayaateen al-13 [The 13 Devils]" at the Contemporary Social Sciences team on March 19, 2024. The talk will discuss the Arab espionage and adventure series for teenagers called al-Shayateen al-13, written by Egyptian author Mahmoud Salem and published between 1974 and 2008. The series revolves around a group of 13 teenagers from different Arab countries who come together to fight against threats to the Arab Nation. The series is part of a broader context of works for young people with nationalist and pan-Arab ideologies that emerged during the tumultuous period of social transformations in the Arab world. The seminar will also be available via video conference.
This will be Susanne's first talk in French!
